First day of school is ALWAYS very busy! We ask that all families review procedures with students prior to Monday, August 11th, so that they are fully prepared. Staff will be strategically located throughout the building to assist students with finding their classes. Family members will not be able to enter the school building to walk their students to a class.
Arrival Procedures – Arrival will take place at the back/side of the building (where you entered for open house). We will begin unloading cars into the building at 8:00am. Students will report to the gym until dismissed to homerooms/breakfast beginning at 8:15. VIDEO for reference
-
Dismissal Procedures - Dismissal will take place at the back/side of the building (where you entered for open house). We will dismiss bus riders first, beginning at 3:30. Around 3:37, we will begin loading car riders. Staff members will be outside logging car pool numbers into our system. Please have your car tag visible in the front windshield.
Walkers – Any student who plans to walk home in the afternoon will have to have documentation on file with the front office. Please email Ms. Shore if your student plans to walk home. We will announce for them to report to the office at the end of the day for dismissal.
-
Cafeteria (Lunch & Breakfast): Breakfast and lunch are FREE this year to all students. Students are expected to follow the expectations and directions from staff.
Students do NOT have use of a microwave during lunch.
Students will sit with their class during lunch.
There will be NO CHARGES allowed this year. Set up your students lunch account to purchase additional snacks HERE.
Cell Phone (Wireless Headphone) Policy: Per GCPS Board Policy, students will not be allowed to have their cell phone devices, earbuds (AirPods) or Smart Watching out or in-use during the day (From the time they enter the building, around 8:00, until they are dismissed at the end of the day). Use of cell phones during between 8:15-3:30 will result in a staff member securing a student’s phone and a parent being asked to come to school to pick up the device. If the student continues to violate the cell phone board policy, disciplinary infractions will be assigned.
Dress Code Reminders: Students may not wear hats or hoods in the building/classrooms; undergarments may not be exposed or showing (no sagging pants), shorts should be fingertip length and clothing should cover skin from shoulders to mid-thigh (no midriff tops).
SWAG Store: LINKED HERE – Order your Granville Central Middle School Swag! The Panther Pack PTO will receive a percentage from the sales. The store will be open each month from the 1st of the month to the 15th of the month. The store will close and orders will take about 4 weeks to be completed from the time the store closes. Orders will be delivered to GCMS and given to the student when they arrive!
Volunteer – LINKED HERE – If you are interested in chaperoning any of our field trips, supporting our school dances, helping at athletic events (not as a coach or on the sidelines/in the dugouts), sponsoring a club, or any other school event, please complete the volunteer application! It takes about 3 minutes! Once completed and approved, you will be set for any event all year long!
Locks & Lockers – Students who plan to bring their own lock should provide the combination/key to homeroom teachers during the 1st week of school. We will begin using lockers WEEK 2, August 18th.
